D-day, flight leaves tonight
Am I ready?!
Still not completely sure on the answer to that question. I will soon find out though! Flight leaves tonight at midnight and arrives the 16th in Bangkok midday. Flying EVA Air, have heard good things about them both in person and online. They were slightly more expensive than China Air but I think the personal video system for every seat EVA offers is worth the extra price alone. Decided for the first night or two I’ll line up the place I want to stay to make things easier to get rolling (so to say). Decided on a dorm style accomodation with “Refill Now“. Lame name but they come highly rated and the website is nice (the internet always portrays an accurate view of life dontcha’know).
I had my first official freak out last night. I came home after a longgg day of packing, loading obnoxiously heavy boxes nto a truck and then unloading into storage. I recalled “Boy, I should probably charge my camera battery” and upon searching for my camera, a Nikon D80 DSLR with 18-105 and 50 lenses I specifically got for the trip, it was not to be found. The worse instantly came into my mind, I had lost or I had carelessly left it vulnerable and it was stolen before I even left! I would’ve replaced it if I could but the night before? Would have been quite difficult! However, in all my ridiculousness, I had placed it in a paper bag that I was using as a staging vessel for all the things Id carry on to the plane with me….DOH! I felt really ashamed and stupid for freaking out over it after it was found. Oh welllll.
Fortunately all of my stuff was successfully put in storage. Everything I own now resides in a 10×10 foot space, neat. I managed to thin my bike herd down to only two bikes plus my touring bike, impressive (for me at least). Packing is one of my arch nemesis (along with its close cousin “folding clothes”) so I am really glad it is all out of the way. Just have to do some final cleaning around the house so I can get my security deposit back and then I can be on my way!
