Ikea by bike – Copenhagen
IKEA of Denmark is now starting a new concept at their Danish stores. They did a bit of market research and found that roughly 20% of their customers rode their bikes to the stores…
IKEA has invested in Velorbis bikes, at a couple of their stores, that will pull trailers so that customers can ride home with the new purchases.
No big surprises here but still a cool thing to think about and quite a big commitment to car-free lifestyle by Ikea.
Picture of the day – 20 May 2008
2008 is certainly looking like a promising year for bikes many thanks to $4 gallon gasoline. This whole experience really goes to show that how we operate as a society has been driven by the premise of cheap oil, cheap cheap oil. But once the cheap goes away, so does the use.

Gallery of vintage road bikes
Some really cool bikes in this museum gallery. Interesting to check out early bikes pre 1960s to see all the technology advancements.
Impressive Bamboo Bike
I have seen Calfee’s bamboo offerings but not this one:
Even the saddle is bamboo! Apparently it’s up for auction, hey it could be yours…
I share this with you in disbelief
Some things I simply have trouble wrapping my human mind around. Do people really try to pander to this level? Is it successful?! Why??!

Something is wrong folks….

Bike built out of WOOD
A 100% wooden bike right down to the chain! Absolutely amazing feat of woodcraft mastery. The full wood chain and ratcheting pawl freewheel system are really impressive. Anything is possible folks.

Two of life’s great passions intertwined, beautiful.
Did you also notice how the keg has suspension but the rider is on a rigid; priorities, right?
