Homebrew a camera mount for your bike
I will be trying this myself shortly. Requires a plastic reflector bracket (ask your bike shop if you don’t have one), 2″x1/4″x20 screw, nut and wingnut and a couple rubber washers.
Ill update once I have this thing built and maybe have some video or pictures with it

2008 is certainly looking like a promising year for bikes many thanks to $4 gallon gasoline. This whole experience really goes to show that how we operate as a society has been driven by the premise of cheap oil, cheap cheap oil. But once the cheap goes away, so does the use.

Human powered amusement ride
Pretty cool carnival type swing ride powered by up to four people pedaling its rotation. Looks like it even has variable gear ratio (notice the little girl pedaling without much effort). Carnie life could definitely be more appealing with these kind of rides. This ride comes out of bike happy Portland.

Our robot overlords can now park our bikes
Sweeeet. Leave it to the Japanese to come up with this (of course). Tokyo’s Kasai rail station now has a robotic bike parking system. Japanese culture seems to really embrace the bicycle for transportation and because of it has the dubious problem of bikes littering the streetscape locked to all manner of objects. Being from the US, I’d more than welcome that kind of problem but it seems the problem is so out of hand there, solutions such as this robotic parking garage are necessary. Check out the robot parker in the video below:

Bikes on the freeway in LA…yes, seriously
I’ve tossed around this idea before with my buddies but it’s always been more of a joke than a serious thing to try. Well these guys in LA apparently took it serious and rode on the 10 during rush hour. Despite the whole thing being rather reckless…its pretty damn awesome!

Impressive Bamboo Bike
I have seen Calfee’s bamboo offerings but not this one:
Even the saddle is bamboo! Apparently it’s up for auction, hey it could be yours…

I share this with you in disbelief
Some things I simply have trouble wrapping my human mind around. Do people really try to pander to this level? Is it successful?! Why??!

Something is wrong folks….
