SF and Oakland move to 4th and 5th top biking cities
San Francisco and Oakland have now moved up to fourth and fifth place respectively in The League of American Bicyclists national list of top bicycle commuting cities (based on percentage of commuters who travel primarily by bike). SF has managed to keep riding numbers high despite the bike infrastructure injunction while Oakland saw the most increase in the region; an 18% gain 2008 to 2009 and a whopping 107% gain 2000 to 2009.

In Copenhagen, park illegally and get your bike pampered

Copenhagenize reports that in an effort to put an end to illegally parked bicycles at metro stations, “bike butlers” are making their rounds moving the offending bikes but then also oiling their chains, pumping their tires and leaving a friendly note! And it’s been working!
